I posted this message about an hour ago and it did not seem to post. If this is a duplicate, I apologize.

I am looking to buy a 1964 Ford 2000 LCG that is for sale locally. Does anyone know it these tractors have live PTO? The owner is not sure. Also, as this would be my first tractor, is there anything I should look out for? The tractor will be restored (slowly) and used for light farm work.

I look forward to any response,

Matt

the LCG stands for "low center of gravity". It will only have live PTO with a five speed transmission with a 2 stage clutch, you can tell by pushing the clutch about half way down and the tractor will stop moveing , but the PTO will keep running, untill you push the clutch all the way down. hope this helps

This is a pretty wide open question. What does LCG stand for? If the PTO will keep turning with the clutch pedal pushed down, it has live power. Be careful buying your first tractor. It should look decent and everything should work and sound good. If you aren't mechanically inclined, take a friend who is; it may save you some $ later on.
The 2000 may not have enough power for a one tractor family.
