I have a Ford 600 that the hydraulics will not go up or down on it. The PTO works fine and the system is full with clean oil. Anything I could check before ripping it apart? Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks Bob

There could be any number of things that cause the hydraulics to be inoperative. Have you tried bleeding the hydraulic pump to be sure it is properly primed? My 641 will lose prime over the winter and the hydraulic lift won't work in the spring. Loosen the allen nut on top of the pump (piston, round body) and crank the engine (with coil wire disconnected) so engine doesn't start. You should get hydraulic fluid flow out of the threaded allen nut opening; replace the nut then try the lift. This purges any air and restores prime to the pump. You may have a vane pump (square body with adjustment lever)and I am not certain how to prime that pump; it is more trouble prone than the piston pump. If you get no flow of fluid then you may have a blockage or the pump may need rebuilding. I am planning to remove my pump and have my Ford/NH service department rebuild it for me this winter. Good Luck, Don

Thanks for the info! I do have the vane type pump and I did try bleeding the sytem according to the manual and I got a good steady flow of fluid out of the hole. I tried the hydraulics and they still won't lift. I think I am going to start tearing it apart to see what s wrong. Thanks Bob
