I understand that the blocker valves(designed to prevent high speed accidental shifting) being dirty and gummed up can cause the power reversing trans to hesitate when shifting back and forth ....forward and reverse. My tractor wants to pause 10 seconds or so after every shift. Does anyone know how to access these small pistons and springs to clean them without separating the tractor ..... ....that is.... opening up the bell housing??? I hear they can be accessed somehow without doing that.
Anyone had any experience with this????? much thanks baron

I don't agree that stuck blocker valves will cause hesitation in shifting. They are, as you say, pins that hold the forward/reverse control vavle spool from being shifted out of neutral if the engine speed is higher than 1000/1200 rpm.
You've preobably got a worn transmission pump or too much internal leakage. I don't think you can get at the blocker valve without splitting the tractor. It's mounted on top the transmission pump hsouing right behind the torque converter inside the bell housing. There's a small access plate on the bottom of the bell housing that give access to a pressure test port but there's not enough room to reach up to the blocker valve.

Thanks for that info.....If I access the pressure test port under the tractor and do a test.....will the results tell me if the pump is bad or if the screen is blocked or what?? baron
