My 72 3000 3 pt lift will not work at all until the tractor has run for about 10-15 minutes. The first lift after that chatters and raises slowly then finally it will work fine although it will only stay up if the engine is running. If off it will leak down in about an hour. I'm using the recommended new holland fluid. Is it likely the pump needs rebuilding? (or the front part of the pump). Or could the filters need changing or cleaning? It looks to me like changing the filters would be more work than rebuilding the front end of the pump. I've purged the air out of it. The manual doesn't seem to offer much help. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks much.

If you can get a hold to a flow meter hook in to the hydraulic and test the flow and pump pressure.
If you have no flow you can't have pressure. but sounds like you may have a seal leaking as you have to let it run to get the air out. Pump seal could cause this. The lekaing down is the lift cylinder seal or valve leaking. Not uncommon with older tractors with age and usuage. If you have remote valve you can check it there.
