Not only do I have the surge problem at higher rpm as described in earlier post, but when I throttle up from idle she tries to flood and almost dies. I removed the air intake tube and when I give her the gas a slight spray of fuel comes out the air intake throat. After a second or two she levels out (as far as the flooding) and then begins the surging. Where to start? Thanks in advance. David

clogged air filter, float level set too high, or place your had lighty over the intake with a slight crack between you fingers,, it should suck and not blow.. or as said earler, you have an intake valve sticking.. or place a vacum guage on the manifold if you have a testing port(small threaded plug) to take a reading from.. still think your carb is plugged some where.. and having to suck fuel through the bowl vent and not the main jet... but is very hard to hear you engine from here.. good luck Bill

Without checking the other post to see what was recommended, I'd say...

-Compression check to see if maybe a burnt valve was causing the blow-back. -With the engine running, spritz some water around the carb to check for leaks. -Make certain that the linkage to the governor operates freely. -and check your timing.

Hope this helps,
DonP
