about breaking the engine loose, to break a diesel loose, take some diesel fuel and take out the injectors, pour the fuel in the cylinders and let it set for a few days. The oil in the diesel fuel should penetrate and free the pistons. be sure not to let the cylinders dry out make sure to keep fuel in them.

A very good machinist gave me some good advice, take the engine to a machine shop. If I free up a stuck engine, disassemble it, take all the parts to the shop, get it cleaned, pressure checked, bored, crank turned, and bring all the new parts home and put it together it costs me $700 plus parts. If I take him the short block and pick up a repaired assembled short block it costs $800 plus parts. The $700 figure doesn't account for if I tear up a wall trying to free it up and have to get it bored and sleeved back b/c the dameage is too bad.

Now the bad news. A SOS (not working), with a bad engine, around here costs you a hundred bucks to get it hauled away.
Best of luck!!

You didn't mention where you live. I wish I could find a few non-working tractors. I'd even haul them away for free!

I'll even pay the Hundred Bucks to get to haul them away. Last one I saw at auction went for $1400. Last one I tried to buy in Franchised Boneyard was priced at what they calculated it would part for...$4000

I just bought an 801-Diesel last week for $1500.canadian, Runs good, starts good, one of the reverse gears may not be working but not sure yet. It also has an original Ford 19-97 hydraulic lift. So far I like it but haven't really had time to drive it much. Started up at -16C after sitting outside since last fall.I'm not sure, but I thought at the time that it was a decent buy. Maybe I'll regret it later.

Unfortunately, you cannot tow an SOS to bust it. Have you taken the starter off? It could just be starter lock. Try turning the engine with the starter off and a pry bar in the ring gear. If that doesn't work, pull the injectors and dump some good penetrating oil in each cylinder. Let it set for several days and try it again with the injectors out.
