Kinked 871D fuel line?

I have an 871 with the 172/4 cyl. diesel in it. If it matters, the injector pump is a roosa master?. The 'rubber' fuel line from the filter to the injector pump was kinked and seeping a bit (as well as pulling some air). I went to the local new holland dealer and picked up the fuel line listed in the parts book. After installing it, it has the same 'kink' as if it's about half an inch too long. Anyone else ever have this problem? I have a 90 degree street el on the filter pointed up (shown in the parts book) and the other end goes straight into the pump at a fitting with another hose running out the back and down (return line? - this dual fitting also shown in the parts book as where fuel supply hose connects). If I take the front bolt out of the filter and tip the top of the filter forward a bit the kink comes out and lets fuel flow but that's not right so am wondering what I have wrong here. Thought about a 45 degree street el at the pump fitting but the parts book at the dealer doesn't show one of those and they swear this is the only fuel line between the filter and pump on a 172 diesel, so thought I'd check with the folks here who usually know.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

I noticed the same thing with my 841-D. I was thinking of fabbing a new bracket for the filter to get the hose to "lay right". HTH JiminGA

I replaced that line on my 861D with the Roosa Master pump. I just used standard bulk fuel line from the auto parts store. It makes a couple of sharp bends but it works. That small line that tees off the back side of the inlet fitting was dried and cracked on mine. I replaced it with 3/16" hose.
