What are the differences between the 175cid and 201cid engines? I know the bore and stroke are different, is it possible to convert the 175 to a 201 by using the 201 crank and boring the block? I would have the pump and injectors recalibrated to 4ooo spec's, but what about the cyl. head? It's just a thought at this point, but any help appreciated.

There have been several posts in the last few years on this Board regarding unsuccessful boring on diesels which don't have sleeves. I think the main problem was cavitation, which in turn results in thin cylinder walls after boring. It also depends on how much you are boring out. Anyhow, I would seriously consider whether to bore one of these diesels or not. Maybe someone else has done what you are suggesting with no problems ?

If I were to bore it, I would install dry sleeves in it, what I want to know is if the 175 and 201 use the same block with the 201 having a larger bore or are they two different castings?
