I just puchased a the above tractor with what I think is a Wagner Loader. It is very heavy duty and is made up of tubes. The tractor looks rough and needs brakes and tires but starts right away in 0 degree weather, doesn't smoke, and has 1600 hours on the proof meter. I have three questions.
1) Was Blue(cast metal) and yellow(hood/fenders)a normal color for this tractor?
2) It has a big lever to the left of the steering wheel that allows you to go forward or reverse without shifting gears. Is this the "reversing transmission" I hear about?
3)Is $2500.00 a good buy for this tractor? I have a 50' To-30, 53' Super M, and a 41' Farmall A so I am not as familiar with the Fords except for the 3 point system so any other help would be great.
Thanks Joe

It sounds alot like my 59 1841, mine is a 4 speed trans., 4 cyl gas 172 cu, has loader(not sure which one), 3 point and a very distinct characteristic is the cast nose piece (grill) and heavy duty front axle

Hi Joe,

Sounds like an 1801, or 2000 LCG from 62-64. Does it have 3 point hydraulics and/or PTO? I assume it is 4 speed, as I *think* that was the only tranny available with the reversing gear.

Hi all
Thanks for responding so far.
I've done some research on it since I've purchased it. The serial number accourding to the charts I have puts it as a 1961. It has "diamond signs" on either side of the serial number which is supposed to mean it has cast iron "larger" cylinder sleeves. It also has 841 right above the serial just behind the starter on a 4 x 6 inch flat space. Now the only thing I can think is maybe something was replaced off another tractor but it looks like it all is original.
Thanks Joe

$2500 sounds like a fair price. the only yellow fender tractors I have seen were industrial construction units.
