ORC for 8N

I have a five foot brush hog and it has a 1-3/8" female PTO connector. It will not fit the 1-1/8" male PTO shaft on the 8N.

I understand that an ORC is recommended for this use. Do they make a 1-1/8" to 1-3/8 ORC? It looks like the 8N PTO has a hole in it so the coupling has a pin which locks on the female PTO coupling. Does the ORC have a similar locking mechanism?

Any other info or tips on ORC would be appreciated. I am totally unfamiliar with them.

The jackpot question.... Are these readily available? From who?

AL, I would change the PTO shaft on the 8N to l" and 3/8 to fit your female end of the brush hog. Easy job and about $130. for a new shaft. , that is if you are going to use the brush hog very much, money well spent!!

Al, Mike is right but if you want more info go to the 8-n discussion page, A fella named Dell can tell you "everything you ever wanted to know about ORC's..." including something about his wife's new car (maybe).Good luck

Al : They're readily available from Tractor Supply or your local Ford / New Holland dealer.

dont forget the ORC has a purpose, no matter which shaft you have.. the orc will prevent the shredder momentum from forceing the tractor forward. Lots of tractors ran through fences, into trees, or into creeks causing injury to the tractor, and possible the driver becuase of no ORC..

if you adapt the shaft up with an ORC, you will not have this problem. Bill

Hey I am living proof that you need that DANG ORC. I left mine off while swinging a 4' bushog 'just for a minute' while I whacked the fence row.

Needless to say my right front wheel got hung in the fence and I took out about 12' of fence before I could stop!

I shoulda put the hog on my 3000 that has the 2 stage clutch....safety first ya know!
