Further on the flywheel: You'll need to use a diesel flywheel - it's quite a bit heavier than a gas engine flywheel. The 4500 probably had a torque converter, the flywheel bolts to a flexplate. You'll probably need to find a used 2000 diesel flywheel so you can bolt the pressure plate to it and have the correct clutch finger height for the throwout bearing. You'll also need to use the 2000 gas engine oil pan on the 201 diesel; the 4500 oil pan is cast iron and bolts to the front axle bolster. The 2000 has a pressed steel oil pan. The Ford engineers would protest loudly if they knew you were planning to put a 50 horsepower engine in a 28 horse power tractor. The 4500 rear axle has a high-speed low-torque crown and pinion with two planetary gear final reduction gear sets. The 2000 has the rear axle crwon and pinion right on the rear axle - 8N style. You'll need to use a little common sense to make the drive train live a long a useful life with the larger engine.

You may have to use the 201 flywheel and front pulley. Many of the 3 cyl. engines were balenced differently, so check that out or just use the 210 flywheel and front pulley to be sure everything is in balence.

You will also have to change the air filter too. We changed several 3cyls from gas to diesel with the BSD complete engines that used to be avaliable. About the same cost as a good overhaul and much faster to install. Your local Ford/New Holland dealer should have a BSD engine conversion book that will tell you what hoses to use etc. may let you borrow it, or copy the pages needed, as new BSD engines are no longer supplied for replacement.
