Well bern worst then I thought #1 and 3 checked out at 300 apiece #2 had 230 and # 4 had 160 so guess its time for her first rebuild I'm sure it would be best to go the whole distance the guy said between 2000 and 2500.00 to do it right. Sound about right? Resleeved if it needs it pistons rings bearings and so on. Now I wish I took Diesal Machanics instead of HVAC tech. I'll let you know how she turns out thanks again for the help

Could end up being more than you figure, since the block is sleeveless (parent bore). Of course, I would never give a guy a firm estimate until I had it all torn down anyway, since you don't know what's good and what's junk.

Make sure whoever rebuilds it realizes that there are 2 different thicknesses of head gaskets depending on piston deck heights. Putting a thick gasket where a thin one should be will make it hard starting in the cold.

Hey bern.....The guy didn't give me a ferm price they seem to know what their doing The Place is called Chastine's in Mountian Grove Missouri.
Something I was wondering was he said he had a complete rebuilt motor for a 6610 ford newer model that was ready to go just hook it up and go I told him I wanted to stay with the original He wanted 3900 for that, did I make the right choise? Seems to me the older stuff is built better. Hope I aint being a pain see ya

Rick, I have got a lot of parts at Chastines in Mountain Grove and think Richard is one of the best Ford parts men around. But I never had any work down in there shop. Will you let me know how your experience turns out?

Well Mike my experience with chastines has been money money money BUT I have been forwarned even before I bought this tractor that thats all part of owning one I just didn't think it would be so soon. I decided to go with the 6610 motor totally rebuilt for more power and fuel effitioncy as bern noted, but most of all, I'll have the tractor back in 3 or four days as apposed to four or five weeks. I've started to order fertilizer and seed and soon as it dries out a bit I want to start. Anyway the fix is in progress Bern was right the price has exceeded my expectations but Thats life I guess. Now my tracror is worth alot more than 4000.00 which is what I paid for it. Thanks for the inquiry I'll let you know when its finished I only wish I was a diesel machanic or a machanic at all maybe It would of been fun to rebuild like you all talk about See ya

Nah, no pain here Rick.

If that 6610 motor for 3900 was complete and in good shape, it might have been a good deal. A 6610 engine will for the most part bolt right in and give you more power and better fuel efficiency at the same time.
