I have a Ford 3000 Diesel 3 cylinder with a Simms in line Injection Pump, talked with a guy who owns a pump shop he said, it will cost around 900.00 to rebuild this pump. I almost fell over. I am going to test the lift pump first. Got my fingers crossed.
Is the price for the rebuild in the ball park or is he over pricing? appreciate the advice

Remove that lift pump and take the lever out of it. Reinstall it with a solid gasket to cover the hole.

Buy a cheap 12 volt electric fuel pump at the local parts store for about $30.00 and put in in place of the lift pump. Fixed!

If you need a pump, better get that one fast, that's very reasonable. Been paying in the 12's for 4 cyl Simms rebuilds, at least that for the 3's.

That is a good price. What are your symptoms? If it lacks power, have you been changing oil in the pump itself? If you haven't, just changing oil a few times will clean things up and make them work free again, you can check the lift pump by hand pumping it when it starts to die.
