I have read the archives and now I am more confused than before. I am trying to replace the correct parts that are missing in the top of the steering in my 960. Just below the steering wheel there is supposed to be (acording to I&T) a felt dust seal, a spring, a spring seat and a bearing (part number LA3517A) . I ordered and received the correct part numbers, but as I was told by a member here that they would be, they are the wrong bearings. I did some research in the archives to see if I could locate a part number for the correct bearing. What I found were several comments, some about the bearing and some about a plastic bushing that comes fitting too tight and needs to be bored out to fit properly. So now the questions are, is there supposed to be a bearing or a bushing? Anybody have any idea what these part numbers might be so I can get ahold of them? I would really appreciate the help!!
Also if there are any suggestions on how to safely back out the adjustment screw on the side without stripping it out, that too would be appreciated! Thanks!!! Bill

Just got back from NH dealer and ordered the two roller bearings and bearing cups that go on the shaft. These are below what the FO-20 describes as the bearing assembly which is the cup like thing that the spring and spring seat fits into.

Still don't have my parts manual yet.

Bill, I have a reprint Ford parts manual at home. If you will send me an email asking (reminding) me to look up your part, I'll be glad to do that tonight or tomorrow.
