4000 with a bad PTO

Local dealer has a 4000 with a Select Shift & a loader. The PTO is bad and will take a couple of Grand to fix. It does have a loader. I have a Ferguson with PTO so I could live without it. I would put my Blade on the Ford and store my Fergie for the Winter.
Do you think it would be worth $2200.00?
Jerry

Way, way too much. Here, you can buy a whole, running sos for $1000.00. Saw one yesterday (pretty nice, everything worked, 3000 sos gas) at a sale didn't get a bid, had to put it with a post driver to sell it. Brought $1900 for the pair, sold another post driver right after it and it brought $1850.

Jerry, 2200 sounds like a good price depending of course on the over-all condition of the tractor. I just replaced the entire PTO shaft assembly on my 841. Fluid and parts less than $200. What year is the 4000 & why does it cost so much to repair?

The dealer says because of the type of transmission. The PTO is buried in the Select-O-Speed tranie. It would be earlie '60 because it't the old style with the 172" I 4 engine.
Jerry.
