I found an 1100 Ford for sale. Seller says it has 460 hours or so on it. Tractor looks very clean. I am thinking about replacing my 184 Intrnational Cub which needs some more work with this one. My cub has a 5 foot finish mower and I really don't want to go smaller. The Ford has no mower.

Is the Ford a good replacement for the 184 for mowing lawn and using small implements on 2 acres? The Ford appears to be in better condition than my 184.

Will the 1100 pull a rear mount finish mower or should I just run a 4 foot and go faster? I have a JB LX 178 for close work.

I was thinking about going to a 640-661, but can't find one for less than $3200. And weight becomes an issue as my land has a tendancy to stay wet and I need a light machine with good flotation.

Can anybody give advice or their experiences?

Years ago while working summer jobs in high school I spent lots of time on an 1100. We used to, believe it or not, run a 5 ft rotary mower behind it and not just in short stubble grass. It was used to mow down unused lots with 2-3 ft. heavy grass. I had to go slow most of the time but it worked great. You'll need front end weight regardless if it's 4WD or not though - it WILL pull wheelies. It's a nice little tractor made by Shibauru of Nihon(Japan). Parts will be cheaper for the 100 series tractors though.

Ford literature shows the 1100 to have aout 11.5 PTO HP and about 1400# for weight. They show recomended mowers to be 48" mid-mount, 48" rear mount, rotary cutter ( brush hog ) 48", Fail mower not recomended.
I hope this helps you.

I have a 48" belly mower for my 1100 that has live belt driven electric clutch PTO and all the attachment hardware. Contact me if you are interested in it.
