Ben,
300 six won't fit.
The 6000 engine is based on an older 223 cubic inch six, I think the gas 6000 engine was almost identical, the diesel was 242 cubic inches but the block looked identical to the 223 six gas block. Ford always said that the 223 block mold had been beefed up for the diesel version. I know the diesel crankshaft was specially forged and induction heat treated.

Ben,

That's a good question, I've asked a couple of guys that know quite a bit about Ford tractors and no one has been able to tell me one way or the other.

Good luck.

Mike

I think the Ford 6000 had the 223 six cyl Ford engine rather than the later 240 or 300. My cousing was a long time Ford tractor dealer at Walthill, Ne and I am certain that's what he told me.

Gary,

My 6000 manual says 242 Diesel and 223 Gas.
