Looking at a 74 Ford 5000 (english built) with front wheel assist and Great Bend loader all in good shape. Was this 4wd an after market add on or were any 5000's made with 4wd? Is $7500 about right price?

Does it say Ploughmaster 75 on the hood? If it does, it is a factory 4WDA. However, the price seems high, and the parts for the 4WDA are hard to get.

its sounds like alot for that year, i bought one new for like 5600 no fwd or loader of course was included, dont wanna be smart but you better go green, its worth the difference in price i learned the hard way, just my two cents

if its a 74 that would be an aftermarket front axel and driveline.should be a clues on the axel, name, numbers etc.any other decals on the tractor e.g. roadless.

im not sure the family farm bought one new us built 2 wheel drive in 74 for $5900 and my friend just baught one at an action in excellent shape with very low hours he paid $5700 so they hold there value but in my opion 4 whell drive and a loader would be great but i dont think its worth that much extra plus im not sure how hard it is to get parts for one built out side the U.S.

74 ford 5000 shows to be worth 4500 in fair,6300 in good and 7300 in excellent,, without fwd or a loader.. a good loader can add 3000 as a rule of thumb and looking at later models fwd can add 2500..
so 6300, 3000, and 2500 =11,700

if anything i would be very supicious as to why the tractor is so cheap.. check it very very very carefully.. i dont recall 4wd being factory on us models till the 5600 series, but i'm not an expert..just an interested farmer and hobbiest.. 5600's came out in 76...looks like its priced for the loader and tractor only without the 4wd.. and parts could be hard to come by... but as long as it steers ok, i've seen the 4wd disconnected on lots of tractors..

If it is a Roadless 75 the front axle is a GMC 21/2 ton army axle so parts should be no problem. The only mods were that the shorter side was shortened more and a short drive shaft was put in, I owned the company for a few years and tested for them for over 20 years so I know that to be rite
