I have a 4000 SU that I want to put a loader on. I would like to buy a used one, if possible, but have no idea what brand or model would fit. Do I need a unit off a 3000 or 4000? Can anyone offer suggestions.

And yes, I know if Bern sees this he will tell me the front end is junk and not to put a loader on it. I won't use it very hard.

A Ford 730 loader will fit. They are strong loaders (they use em on industral tractors too) and are very responsive. But they make your tractor verrrrr y front heavy. You won't do anything without balast in the rear.

Hi Ross, thanks for the response. Are there lighter front loaders I could consider, as I won't be working it very hard?

Bill - That front end is definately not junk, but it still is a 3000 front end, so I would look for a loader built for a 40 horse tractor and treat it as such. I have had a Super Dexta since 1963 with a Freeman manual trip bucket loader. Basically the same front axle and have moved all kinds of material with no damage to the axle. As in anything else use common sense around a loader.
