My proofmeter hasn't worked on my 3000 since I bought it. I'm wondering if there are any common problems or if anyone can give me a suggestion as to where to look first.
Thanks,
Jim

I only had to replace the fiber gear that runs off of the generator to get my tach and meter running correctly on my 2000. $10. gear from Walt's tractor parts. I took the gear assembly away from the generator and spun the cable shaft going to the tach by hand. The tach moved indicating the tach and cable were okay. I inspected the old fiber gear but it looked pretty good (even when I later compared it to the new one). I took a $10. chance and bought the new gear drive and it did the trick. Hope this helps. I would check the "cable" first! If it seems to be alright, and turns at the head, and the tachometer doesn't work, then I would buy a new tacometer, (around $50.00), a new cable around($20.00). I wouldn't try and repair the old one, as you will spend more than a new one cost, my oponion of course. Good luck.....Van

I should have mentioned that the hourmeter doesn't work but the tach does.

My cable from the tach to the generator was broken. It is an easy repair if that is it.

I had water getting into mine so I greased it up good and have not had a problem in years. Also take the gear out of the gen and lube it too.
