I should have mentioned in my post below that my hourmeter does not work, but my tach does. Any help in where to look would be appreciated.
Thanks,
jim

Mind froze up and would not turn when you put the cable on it and I soaked it in diesel full for a week and it broke loose I don’t think this will help you but its worth a try

If the tack works but the digits do not turn over the problem is internal to the meter. Most likely the mechanism driving the counter is gummed up. With gummed up mechanisms on old clocks my dad used to set a small quantity of kerosene in the clock to evaporate and act as a lubricant and they would start working again. If you can access the mechanism through the shaft hole or a light hole a shot or two of WD 40 just might provide enough cleaning and lubrication for the digits to work again. Also someone who repairs speedometers will have the equipment to remove the bezel and glass.
