We are the second owner of a 1962 Ford Tractor, Model #40313, SN 167470, having purchased it in 1966; can someone help me to determine the series?
It had the rounded emblen on the front of the hood, which may have read "industrial". Is this possible?
What is the difference between the 2000 and the 4000?
We are considering a resoration . We would really appreciatge some help. Thank you

Bob, If I read my book right you have either an 800 series or 4000 series utility. Using your model number, the 4 tells you it has a 172 cu. in. motor. The 0 tells you it was a industrial produced prior to 1963. The 31 tells you it's a 4 wheel low center of gravity with adjustable front axle. And the 3 tells you it has a 4 speed trans with hydraulic system and pto. Theres your model number 40313. As far as the round emblem this would have showed the series of the tractor. Like an 800 series witch I beleive is whatyou have.As I've described your tractor and looking futher in this book, I'd say your tractor is a late 841 As the 2000 and 4000 symbols usaully ran vertical in the center of the grill. As far as the difference between the 2000 and 4000, The main difference is the motor. The 2000 has the 134 cubic inch motor and the 4000 has the 172 cubic inch motor. John

I have a 2000 with the circle emblem same year its an industrial. It was produced in late fall of 62. Sheet metal and eblem changed in 63 is the way I understand it. On the hood both sides it reads 2000 industrial. Don't have casting numbers in front of me but I have a frontloader, backhoe, power steering...nice tractor used it all day today.
