Hello,
My engine is running a lean because I would need to pull the choke part way to smooth it out. I bought a carb kit and installed it and it is a little better but still not right. It will spit back through the carb. It has the Holley carb and I'm not sure the accelerator pump assembly was as easy to push in and out as it should be. I am going to clean and smooth it out a little and try again. I don't think there is a vacuum leak but there could be one. Any other things I should try ? Thanks
Mark K.

Suggestions:
- Is the ignition system in good shape? points, coil, timing, vacuum advance (for >'65)?
- Yes, I'd suspect a vacuum leak: vacuum advance diaphram, carburetor throttle valve cross shaft worn out?
- Dip the carb housing to make sure jets and passages are all open; especially if the tractor's been parked for a while.

We got it. Removed the carb. and polished the pump area of the Holley still sputtered a little but better. Adjusted the idle air screw out and this time it smoothed out. Don't know for sure why the idle adjustment would help at higher rpm. Glad it is now smooth and ready to play. Thanks Mark K.
