Bob, It is a PTO Clutch of sorts, was an option on the NAA's from the dealers. Wife bought me one for Christmas last year for our Jubilee, haven't installed it yet. Clutch pack & shaft replaced the drive shaft between the tranny and the differential. Little Hyd. Pump bolts on between your Hyd. Pump and the Proofmeter drive shaft. Pulls oil from Hyd. reservoir. What I don't see in the pictures is the Control Valve and Handle that controls wether it stays in mechanical lock-up, slips allowing you to stop ground motion and keeping PTO running, or in hydraulic lock-up. It had a different round cover plate with the valving, relief valve, etc. that replaced the PTO Shifter Plate. If you are interested, you might ask if his is still on the tractor. You could swap side plates with him... Looks like it is an good shape, but I'd disassemble, clean and inspect before splitting the Jubilee.
Later, Bill C.

I don't know the actual name but what it does is provide a way to stop forward motion of the tractor without pushing in the clutch and thus disengaging the PTO. Not exactly live PTO, but as close as the NAA would get. The unit is basically a hyd clutch pack. It is installed between the trans and rearend. The tractors hyd pressure is used to engage and disengage the unit through the use of an addition lever. $36.00 seems pretty cheap for a fairly rare item.

without looking.. its probably an over-run clutch for the pto.. that doesnt give you a live pto.. it just prevent the shredder or bushhog or what ever from driving the tractor forward when the clucth is pushed in.. by freewheeling in one direction and locking in the other..

this means the the tractor can turn the pto shaft and the over run clucth will engage and turn the shredder.. but if you have to stop suddenly at the end of a field or next to a creek.. the momentem built up in the shredder will not continue to turn the tractor pto shaft because the over-run clutch will disengage..

and becuase the tractor pto shaft is not a LIVE pto shaft but a shaft driven of the back of the transmission.. the momentem of the shredder will try to keep turning the pto and that means as it turns the pto shaft, that turns the rear of the trans which is tied to the tires.. which means you try to stop and push in the clutch and the shredder forces the tractor to keep going for another 25 to 60 feet.. many of tractor have run into creeks or fences or trees doing serious damage to the tractor, sometimes hurting or killing the driver... so even though the advirtiser dosent always know what it its.. an pto over run clutch DOESNOT MAKE IT A LIVE PTO.. but it does prevent you from losing control if you have to stop fast... a true live pto will continue to turn the shredder or hay baler with the cluth in and the tractor in nuetral.. so you can stop, change ground speeds, etc and keep the hay baler going and not have it shut down evertime you push in the clutch pedel to change gears or stop... and a live pto will not continue to push the tractor forward... something an "over-run-clutch" fixes on the older tractors...

Good Comments Bill, but you should have looked before you commented. It is not a over running clutch. It indeed looks like a device that would make the PTO a live PTO form the one that I saw once. or else maybe a Howard transmission.
