that is the dealer installed live pto kit for the NAA, my grandfathers NAA has it, the little knob that turns is to lock the drive(when ya dont need live pto) there is supposed to be another lever attached to the short shaft right behind the pto shifter, it is a long lever that goes up near the seat, that alowed ya to shift in and out of drive without stopping the pto, it is hydraulicly shifted so there should be a small hydraulic pump mounted behind the main hyd pump, off the tachometer drive. this is a rare accesory, unfourtanatly the one on my grandfathers tractor started to slip so we have to leave it in the direct locked position all the time. a lucky find and even better if ya can get it to work+

Bishop, I have no idea what it is, but I do know what it does. It makes me curious, I gots to know what it is and what it does. Actually I take a guess, a Howard underdrive aux tranny to allow slower ground speed and PTO speed. I think they halved the final drive. Just a guess

Maybe this post will make others curious.

I intended to say halved the ground speed at full PTO speed.
