I have a 1962 Ford 4000 that is getting fuel in the oil. The fuel pump was rebuilt by professionals. They installed all new seals during rebuild. Fuel was found to be entering the oil after the pump was installed. When I contacted the rebuilder, new seals were installed as a precaution although the ones removed were still good. Fuel is still getting into the oil. Has anyone ever heard of this? Does anyone know what my problem is, or have any suggestions? Any and all comments will be appreciated.

Yes I have had this on my 4000 Diesel. Several locations. Injector return lines need new copper seals (under valve cover). Does yours have a flex line going to the fuel tank (return line from injectors)? If yours goes in to the bottom of the tank there is a good chance it is the same as mine and the line is broken off inside the fuel tank allowing fuel to drain back in to the engine. The connector that screws in to the bottom of the tank needs to have a over flow tube which is about 7 inches long (keeps the return line above the fuel level in the tank. Mine was broke and allowed fuel to drip back in to the tank.

I wasn't paying attention to the year model, if it is fuel be sure and check the return lines for the injectors under the valve covers.

Are you absolutely sure it's fuel? I'm not sure, but I think the design/placement of the hydraulic pump could allow hyd. oil into the engine if a failure ocurred there. A friend spent thousands on the inj. pump on his JD 1020 (The JD mechanic told him it was fuel), it turned out to be a faulty power steering pump leaking hydraulic fluid into the timing cover.Just a thought.
