I just bought my first tractor ('54 Jubilee) which seems to be in really good condition.
It's been a long time since I've even driven a tractor and I'm not very familiar with all the "normal" sounds a tractor should make. Is there supposed to be any noises when I let out on the clutch in neutral that are different than before I let out the clutch? I've read some post that seem to be similar to the noise I hear and I'm not sure if I have a problem or not....but after reading some of the post, I'm starting to get worried.

I have a Jubilee and there is very little difference, if any, in the sound with the clutch depressed or not in neutral. What exactly is the sound that you hear? Is the clutch slipping at all?

Andy,

Can you give us a clue as to what you here, Whhrrrrr r. Gggrrrrr rrr. Slap slap slap. Crunch tap tap tap crunch. BANG.

I ride a 62 2000 that makes a soft gentle wwhhrrrrr rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr r. noise when the clutch is released in neutral. I can't afford to worry about it at this time, so this winter I'll try to remember when I'm doing other maintenance.

But lets hear what other tractor noises sound like.

Would a Whhrrrr be bad in a Ford 4000 gas?Because me and my neighbor got trouble if it is.

Yes, there is a slightly different set of gears spinning or not spinning if you release the clutch, so some small difference is normal, but without any description we can't really say if what you have is normal.

yes.. you will hear the front shaft of the trans spinning,, and the pto input drive shaft spinning.. so yes you should hear a difference...

but no clucking or grinding,,just a sound of a shaft or shafts spinning...

good luck..
