The first thing I noticed is his feedback rating - not very impressive. I think people will tend to be very cautious about bidding. Reserve will likely not be met.

Even though he has only one negative out of 154 positives? I tend to think that's a pretty good record.

You're looking at the feedback rating of the high bidder. Look up in the upper left corner. You'll see the seller has a rating of 7 with 81% positive. If you click on that 7 you see that out of 10 total responses, 2 are negative. One of them is from a seller and another is from a buyer. Sounds like he tries to bend every situation to his advantage. I'd be careful.

Plus I'm not looking for a gold demonstrator, so it's easy for me to say that. I guess if I were really hot to own a gold one, I might overlook the feedback.

Interesting that a dealer demonstrator would not have power steering. If I were a dealer ordering a demonstrator, I'd load it up with every available option.

I have had 4 fords and none of them have had power steering, I really don't know why but I would think that in the year of these tractors the farming in the south was mostly share croppers, so I'd imagine that the land owner didn't see a need in providing his share cropping worker with the luxery or power steering. Just a thought...

I can see that point, but my point is that this gold tractor was ordered specifically as a demonstrator...in other words, a tractor that was supposed to display all the good points and gee whiz options available on a Ford tractor. I say again, if I were a dealer ordering a demonstrator, it would have every options so I'd have something on the lot I could show someone inquiring about power steering, etc.

I didn't figure my ebay ad would be noticed here so quick. I'd like to thank Tony for his reassuring post, he knows this tractor. I have replaced the zenith carb with a origional marvel. It made all the difference in the world as to how the tractor ran.

As far as my ebay feedback, if you want to discuss it with me I'll be glad to. I had a bad experience with a used car lot that sells on ebay, they tried to sell me a car with a bad motor. The other was a dis-satisfied ebayer that won an auction on a 1986 motorcycle I was selling. He expected it to be in better shape than it was, I could have described it better so I guess I own some of that. I don't see that as turning every situation to my advantage, maybe it is, but if you need more info on the tractor, or my ebay feedback call me 229-432-7938

I'm the one that made that comment. I've thought about it since and decided that to some degree we all try to turn situations to our own advantage. It's too bad you had 2 bad experiences so early in your ebay "career".

I had one where the buyer never paid after repeated reminders and promises to pay. After 7 weeks I posted negative feedback and he had the gall to give me negative feedback as an "annoying seller"! AFTER SEVEN WEEKS!!

I had another one where I bought a $300 nintendo system for my son, paid the money and never got the merchandise. Turned him in to the ebay "police" (for all the good that does) and so he filed negative feedback on me for being a "pain". I'm the one who got cheated out of $300!

So, in a nutshell, I apologize for the comment. Buying and selling vehicles is an iffy proposition at best and is doubly chancy on ebay.

I believe this tractor is in the archives here. What caught my attention was Leesburg, Ga. Jim Floyd

Hi Jimmie, Yes that is the same tractor from the archives. I know Steve Burnfin personally from working with him on his S-O-S rebuilds and I looked at the tractor last year when I was down at his home before he decided to sell it. It is a real Gold Demo that needs a restoration even though it is a working tractor just not a show tractor, I currently have three Gold Demos of my own, about the only thing I remember not being original was the Carburetor, but I may have an original one if Steve has not located one for it yet. If you have any Gold Demo questions call me at 1-413-267-5087 Thanks Tony Jacobs
