What do I have here

Hey folks, I picked up a Ford tractor with a loader AND backhoe. It is an industrial model as there is no hitch or PTO. It looks like the backhoe was built for the machine and visa versa. Anyone ever see such an animal? The guy I bought it from told me that he thought it was made around 1958. The only thing I know about it is that it works and is a Ford. Any help would be appreicated as I am sure some day I will need parts.

Thanks

Bill

Could be a 600 or 800 series tractor. With possibly a 713 or 723 backhoe on it.

To supplement what Ray said ...I have a 1957 Ford 840 with a 713 hoe. There is a picture in the Tractor Photos section at the URL below (if my link method works that is!!!). Anyway my 840 has PTO and three point hitch so yours is not that. However you should be able to tell if the hoe is a Ford 713 or 723 series by visual comparison.

Andy:
Thanks for the picture. That sure looks like mine. Question for you, do the hose connections on yours work with an "o" ring? If so, have you been able to locate replacements? I blew a line out and no could find the match fittings so we had to do some creative welding to make a new hose. Thoughts?

Thanks again

Bill

Well ... almost all the hydraulic connectors on a 713 are non-standard. They do use an O-ring. Tisco makes adapters which convert from 713/723 style to good old standard NPT. I've replaced a lot of hoses and cylinders on my hoe and adapt to NPT hoses and modern cylinders as I go. Many local tractor dealers stock or can get Tisco parts. Probably some of the vendors on this web site offer Tisco parts as well. If you want the Tisco part number I could find that for you.

Bill, Ford did indeed make such a beast, if you check out the link below you will find out how to identify your tractor, where to locate model/serial # and what year of production. Take pics, post back, share your find with the forum. If you have any questions at all do not be shy about asking questions.
