I have been looking around for a 801 like my uncle used to have and noticed they have been few and far between, my question is was there that few made or are they such a handy tractor that no one sells them?
BTW I'm not looking to buy one just checking into prices and info for when I have the money to do so which will probably be never.

Bob, I'm prejudiced because I own one. They are great tractors and many are still in use around the country. Check the Ads section of this site. Also look at the Vintage Ford Tractor site. It can help you with Model & Serial #'s so when you find one you can be sure of what you are getting.

Royce do you have the SOS series or the standard tranny, my uncles had the standard tranny and I'm trying to figure out the shift pattern with the upper and lower ranges.

All I can remember is for some gears you pushed down on the shift lever and moved forward and back and for the rest it was left in the raised position and moved the same if that helps anyone.

Don't answer him Royce. It sounds like he is a terrorist and plans to knock down a few skyscrapers with granny gear. The power of these 100 series tractors is not to be turned loose to just anyone with a desire to learn the shift patterns.....

Middle, back is first. Middle, forward is second. Up and back is reverse. Up and forward is third. Down and back is fifth. Down and forward is forth. This is all molded into the shifter housing right behind the shifter. Scrape the old paint off, it's all there. Fred.

Thanks Fred, I'd love to scrape off the old paint but the tractor is long gone, just hoping to get one in my uncles memory and just trying to remember the little details.

LOL Dan, It's been 25 years since I was on that 801, I was 10 at the time and remember having troubles with the shift pattern.
