pAUL,

i HAVE ALMOST THE SAME EXACT MACHINE PAINTED THE SAME COLOR. mINE IS A 641 WITH A 720 LOADER AND A 723 BACKHOE. mY BACKHOE LOOKS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN YOURS. MY ID PLATES FOR THE COMPONENTS ARE LOCATED: ON THE LOADER ON THE LEFT SIDE JUST ABOUT WHERE THE LIFT CYLINDER ATTACHES TO THE upright support post ( sorry for the caps I hit the damn caps lock key!)

My backhoe plate is located on the horizontal surface below the controls for the backhoe and above where the boom is attached ( where the hoses go through the floor)

there is also a plate located on the back of the bucket, if its in the position in the picture you will have to lay on the ground, or raise the bucket and tilt down . it is in the center.

where in NY are you located? I am in the lower hudson valley.

Paul,

Does your Ford backhoe with front-end loader look like this one?

If so your model and serial number are located behind the left-hand (portside) mounting point for the FEL (front-end loader), just below your oil bath air filter. It is hand stamped into a horizontal flat surface approximately three inches by five inches in size. This combination model/serial number however faintly stamped and obscured from view by structural members of your FEL will be rendered almost totally impossible to read by a really good coat of mustard yellow paint. Do not let these minor impediments prevent you from getting these most important numbers, as you will need them when ordering parts, researching technical information or requesting technical assistance from such sources as this forum. This number is so important, I suggest you write it down when you do get it, just so you do not have to stick your coconut back into that almost, but not totally inaccessible (I'd rather crawl into a rat-hole) position. After you get in there you will probably wish you had brought along with you the following items: Mirror Paint scraper Rag Solvent Wire brush Strong light source Beer Chalk to high light the stamped impressions

The model number will be a three or four digit number, possibly five not likely to be six digits number i.e. XXX OR XXX-X OR XXXX or XXXX-X OR XXXXX.

Your production (serial) number will be somewhere between a single digit and a six digit number, preceded and followed by diamonds (not the gem type, although you will have earned them before you get out of there) appearing as thus: <>X<> to possibly <>XXXXX <>

Single digit serial numbers are good to find, but unfortunately if it is a '62 to '64 thousand series Ford they start at 1001(a FORD binary numerical sequence indicating "First of kind") so the lowest combination in the thousands series will be <>XXXX<> Also good to find.

Judging from appearance I would say that your tractor is a Ford, built between 1955 and 1964. It appears to be one of the following series 600, 800, 601, 801, 2000 or 4000. The previously mentioned number will determine the actual model. You did write it down, didn't you?

Once you do have the model/serial number either post back with info or reference the link below.

I hope this helps, send pics when you get a chance, and post back with your model/serial number.
