The most important numbers are those next to the starter. "D1014C" is the model number. It means that it is a 4000 series tractor, agricultural all purpose, has a diesel engine, independent 540 PTO, and an 8 speed transmission.

"1L23" is the date code. This means your rig was built on November 23, 1971.

"B905550" is the tractor serial number. The "B" prefix means it was built in England.

My apologies, Tony. Rarely do I venture beyond page 1 anymore. I did post a reply there, however.

Hi Bern, No apologies needed , I did read your reply , and I'm sure you how engineers are also, usually so smart they overlook the little things . I don't remember reading that on the label about the specs(I usually do)But the both of them were going by the composition of the oil from some kind of chemical, and additive, sheets that describe the contents of the oil itself . Just passing on some info and food for thought that's all . Thanks Tony Jacobs
