I recently bought an original Ford 8000 at an auction. On the left side of the hood there is a sticker from the national tractor pullers assoc. A friend told me he thought for a while some ford 8000s were comming from the factory with that on the side of the hood back near the operators platform Does anyone know if that is true?

Bill,

The only Ford tractor I saw a NTPA decal on was a 6000 modified for pulling (had a power stroke torbo charger installed) by a professional puller. I think you may have found a tractor that was used for tractor pulls, the 5000 does an exceptional job. And pulling usually doesn't hurt the tractor at all, that's what they're designed to do after all. Good luck, and if you have any local tractor pulls in your area, you might want to give it a try.

The tractor doesnt have big tires. 18.4x34. But it does have 6 weights on each rear wheel and 13 front weights. I am not sure if it was used for pulling or not

Not sure about the decals, but it sounds like it may have been pulled before. Be sure to check and see if it has a turbocharger. If so, it may have been pulled as the 8000 didn't leave the factory with one. Early model 8000's did come with 13 80 lb. suitcase weights on the front and you could put round wheel weights (100 lbs. each) on the outside of each rear wheel. Hope this helps.
