Hello out there, is there any way to change the 540 pto to a 1000 ,tractor is a 73 . I'm wanting to run a swather with it . also its pump is pretty big and dont want it resting on a extention.

short answer.. no...

however if your are willing to replace some/most of the pto parts and make it the same as the 7700.. then yes.. but it would probably cost too much..

Converting to a two-speed PTO would also require a different rear axle housing, something which is not exactly practical. A person would be better off trading up to a 7000 or 7600, which had the 2-speed PTO as standard.
