Purchased Ford 8000 in Nov. Changed engine oil but unable to get hydraulic oil & filter changed before freezing temps. Problem is snow blade on back will lower but will not raise once lowered. When I turn tractor off and start next day, blade is in up position. How can this happen, when tractor is off & blade down? Before the temps got below 30 the hydraulics worked just fine. Needless to say I am not getting the driveway cleared of snow...!!!

Sounds like water in hydraulic oil about 2-3in" in the rear end. Loosen drain plug to see what comes out, the plug above the drawbar below the torque tube, When not frozen.

I don't know if 8000's had accumulators but that would be a possible explanation.

Are you letting the rear end oil warm up so the ice crystals melt - run a 1/2 hour or longer once to really warm it, driving too so the oil moves? Can you get it inside a heated area for a few hours to figure it out?

Heres an idea that may or may not help my 801 when cold won't work well either if I start it the blade takes like 5 minutes to go up unless I shut it off and restart it then it goes up but then if I lower it it may or may not go up unless I go thiugh the off and on thing agian. You might try starting your tractor and then lower the blade and shut it off and see what hapens it may work good if you play with it that way a few times.
