Value of 1953 Ford Jubilee

I've been offered a non-running 1953 Ford Jubilee tractor as a part of a land deal and have no idea how to place a dollar value on something like this. I need a tractor and after seeing the '53 Ford Jubilee posted by Tom Van Buskirk, I'd be quite proud to own something as pretty. Can anyone tell me how to assess the value and determine if it is what the seller says it is?

Thanks in advance,
Blaise

Sounds like a parts tractor to me. You would probably need an entire new engine and no telling what else is wrong.

I wouldn't count it as any value in the land purchase, sounds like someone trying to squeeze a few extra bucks from the deal.

After spending most of the night surfin' the web, I can see why something like a classic tractor can become a "labor of love"... I'll find out this morning, but I'm not sure if my suspect tractor is a Jubilee; most information I saw on the web described a 4 cyl gas, this one has a 6 cyl Diesel.

I received further info last night that via e-mail that the trouble with the engine is a thrown rod. I won't know the extent of the damage until the engine is broken down.

Thank you all for the follow up, helpful information for sure. Blaise

Dave H's estimate is probably on the high side in my opinion. Here's why I think so: With the engine not running, you have no way to assess the condition of several other systems (hydraulics, transmission, etc). Worst case, you get the engine running and find out everything else needs rebuilt, too.

One safe way to price a non-running tractor is to figure out what the individual parts would be worth if you had to part it out. Add those up and that's what it's worth as a non-running tractor.

My opinion only.

Here is a link of how to check out a tractor. It deals mainly with the 8N but it all can be related to the Jubilee/NAA. Make sure you leave yourself a little room for the items that you will miss. Then double your estimated time to repair and you should be close. If it doesn't run and you cannot get it to run, with a simple tune up, the project turns into a labor of love, rather then one you will make money on. I would also do a search in the old classified section of this site to see what people have been asking for theirs. This way you will have something to compare the one you are looking at too.

Cheers
Rob

Blaise, I am located in upstate New York and here a Jubilee in non running condition (providing it is intact) is in the $1000.00 range.
