Hi Bill, It depends if your tractor is a 4 cylinder or a 3 cylinder, FORD PRODUCED OVER TEN THOUSAND TRACTORS IN 1965 WITH THE 4 CLYINDER ENGINE EXACTLY LIKE THE 1964 4 CYLINDER TRACTORS , 4 CYLINDER PRODUCTION FINALLY ENDED IN SEPTEMBER 1965 WHICH MOST GUYS DO NOT KNOW BUT IT IS LISTED IN ALL FORDS BOOKS PRINTED BY THE FACTORY . Thanks Tony Jacobs

Tony, did the 1965 4cyl. Fords that look like the 62-64 4cyl. Fords have the serial # beginning with the C****** as did the 3cyl. Fords of that year? If not---- do you know the serial # break where the 64s ended and the 65 model began? I didn't think I had ever seen a 65 4cyl. Ford 2000, or 4000 model. I sold what I thought was a 1964 LCG 2000 Ford Ser# 73257. Now I wonder if it was truly a late 1964 model as I had thought. Robert Pripps "Ford & Fordson Tractor Buyers Guide" does not allude to this carry over into 1965! Thanks for any help you can provide. Dan Robertson

Yes, but I think it is mainly in the engine and cosmetic. The engine went from 4 cyl to 3 cyl and the tin went from the '40's round to square as did the rear axle housing. The tin is higher so the battery mounts over the engine and the standard transmission is 8 sp with live PTO where before the standard was 4 sp without live PTO....big differenct here.

Had my options, would take the latter even if it cost $500 more.

May be more, I haven't noticed.

Mark

Yes they are different. How much I dont know? I just bought a 64 Ford 2000 that had been setting up for a long time and did not run. I used the IT manual witch covers a lot of models and years to attack this beast. This tractor had a lot of big problems, broken camshaft, timming gears, govenor to start off with. After making these repairs the engine ran fine but the hyds had problems. With a little help from this board and the IT Manual the old 2000 was diging a ditch last night. Got all the parts from a salvage yard I found thru this site for less than $400 .

Guys, I have an old Ford 2000. I don't know what year it is. I bought it locally, and trust the man who sold it. He told me that the engine had been rebuilt. The paint was new, and perfect until my horses chewed on it. The fan blew off last summer, but luckily it didn't go through the radiator -- the man who sold it told me I was lucky, that was a new radiator and cost all outdoors. It runs great -- I use it to mow my pastures, rake and ted hay. I'm thinking about selling it and buying something newer and bigger. What do you suppose it is worth?
