Looking for a ?????

Like I posted before, I sold my N series tractor and I am looking for something a little bigger. I plan to go and look at a 861 next week but tonight I had the chance to look at a Ford 3400.

The Ford 3400 had a factory ford Loader with down pressure. Engine sounded good, no leaks, good down pressure. Loader was strong and easily lifted tractor off the ground and did not "drift" down after I turned it off. Overall looked in pretty good mechnical shape although I would certainly go back and look closer. The tractor was apparently left outside most of its life because the loader had missing paint and rust and the tractor itself looked weathered.

The guy is asking $5000. Seems like if it passes a compression test and clutch is good it might be worth it. Seems like a better deal than the $4500 the guy is asking for the 850 I'm looking at tomorrow.

The 861 is 350 miles away and of course would cost money to retrieve. I only have pictures of this tractor but it looks very good.

The Ford 3400 I looked at is serial # C315194 and Model # C4002B.

I eagerly anticipate your comments and feedback.

Thanks in advance,

Doug

Doug,

I have a 1973 4400 industrial and have been very happy with it. It has been abused in its life, but still works well when it is not broken. To me $5000.00 seems kind of high for a 3400 without a backhoe. I think I have seen 3400's with loader and backhoe for around $2500.00 to $3500. But, if it is something that you would like to have, it is a good tractor. VERY POWERFUL.

Happy Easter and God bless.

If I could find a 3400 for even 3500 with a good loader I'm there.

I sold my N series for $3200 with small loader, chains, and 7' backblade.

I just looked at a 850 priced @ $4000.

Had a few issues nothing major. I think I might consider the 850 at $3800 but I don't think the gentleman would take that. It has potential but steered really hard.

I'm still lookin...
