Hi - Please tell me what might be the best prices and most reliable company on the internet to order parts for my 1956 Ford 640 from. I recently tried to have my local dealer rebuild my carburetor and was told i would be better off purchasing one. I don't really have the time to rebuild it myself and the last time a friend rebuilt it, we never got the float and other adjustments right. It's leaked ever since. I also need a new/rebuilt fuel shut-off valve. Can a fuel shut-off valve be replaced without removing the fuel tank? Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

I know an excellent mail order parts house. Email me and I will send you link. I was under the impression that posting links was against the forum rules, so I'd rather you send an email for the information.

Your leaking carb problem is most likely a rubber tipped float needle. This is common problem now everywhere. Find your old, or an old, metal needle and put it back in, leaving in your new seating. This should stop your leak if your float is good and doesn't have a hole in it.
The fuel shut off valve can be replace easily by removing the muffler. A new carb is big money. good luck.
