I have a ford 9N tractor that is serial # I2792 it is a little different than other 9N's I've had in the past the rear axles are smooth in the center also the fenders appear to be set on the tractor in a narrower position than most 9n's can anyone tell me how many of these were made I think it is a 1940 model?

I don't know about the fender placement question, but I know the smooth hubs were the way the early 9N's came out of the factory. However, this proved to be a weak spot on these tractors. Hub failures were frequent enough that Ford changed to a riveted hub. All the broken smooth hubs got replaced with the upgraded riveted hubs. It's not very common now to see a tractor that still has it's smooth hubs. The one in the picture was sold at an auction near here on April 10 for $1750. It's serial number is 38995. The link below should tell you about when the production change went into effect. Does the fender placement of the tractor in my pic seem the same as yours?

Thanks Jim; I found out a little bit more info on the tractor it seems it is a 9N vineyard tractor supposedly very rare approx. 400 of these tractors were made buy the ford motor company it's funny when I picked the tractor up I thought it looked narrower but did'nt give it to much attention . I put the tractor on Y.T. tractors for sale and someone emailed me right away and pointed it out to me that it was a rare tractor? go figure, now I don't know what to ask for it ,maybe someone out there knows what one of these is worth? Thanks Adam
