This 850 has a wagner loader on it, and certainly been worked pretty hard to say the least. The tin is incomplete, no grill, LPG no hood, not sure if its all mounted correctly either. Problem is that the fan is hitting the shroud when there is weight in the loader, or when travelling over uneven ground. Has anyone had any experience with this happening or is this a symptom of something more serious, like the center pin that holds the front end together? I have a little flex in the tin, radiator moves a little etc.( may have to look closer & see if it's moving independent of the motor causing this) but was wondering if the center pin holding the tractor up may need to be looked at, or if this is a definitve sign of something else to check. I've got all the books, pretty decent mechanic, with a good eye for trouble, appreciate any advice, thanks !

Sounds like a loose hogs head, its the part that bolts to the engine that holds the front axle. If its loose it will let the top of the rad pull back to the fan and make the fan hit. Theres 4 bolts there and they are no fun the tighten. Had this happen a few times on my 801

Gotcha, I just noticed a space in between one of them bolts & the block, and on the left side, the ear of the block that sticks out with the bolt hole was welded ( so I'll have to take er easy on that one ) probably the weakest part on the tractor and its been repaired, but I'm thinkin its strong as its held up, so whoever welded it must have followed good procedure. Looks like I'll want to tighten all 4 bolts evenly/slowly so as not to distort one side and stress it. If I break that ear off, we're talkin a new block, as I'm pretty good welding with stick, but the preheat, cool down would be tough to do on the tractor, looking at it, but I'm sure worse has been overcome, still I'd want it done right, one wrong move she'd be close to being a parts tractor, which I'd hate to do.

Thanks old, I'll have a go at it tonight hopefully it'll cinch right up !

Heres a tip for you if your loader has power down, roll you bucket back and then lift the front of the tractor up. That takes most of the weight off the front end in that area and the bolts will tighten easyer

Will do that, its got front cylinders, and an independent pump, strong ,lifts up nice, no problem at all, I actually do that quite often while greasing the front end, will have a wack at it tomorrow, had to postpone it tonight to help a friend on a concrete pour.

Also on some of them you can put in longer bolts and then you can add nuts to the back of them to lock them on. It doesn't work on all tractors but there are a few it does
