I can get an 841 gas with thrown rod and cracked block cheap, otherwise its perfect. I can also get a 172 ford industrial short block cheap. Part # on 172 industrial is E2JL 6015AA. Part # on 841 block is 6010. Apparent casting date # on the industrial is H1046-83 but don't know how to decipher this. Any source where I might compare these #'s to see if the blocks are interchangable? I have seen the industrial but I havent compared it to parts book pics yet. It has one head bolt hole stripped out. I'm thinking I can tap it one size bigger and same with head and solve this problem. Don't know which head bolt hole it is yet. Regardless, I believe there is enough clearance to tap one size bigger. How can I tell if blocks are same? Your usual splendid professional advice is awaited. Thanks.

I believe the industrial 172 is pretty much a bolt-in swap for your 841. As for the stripped head bolt, I'd highly recommend putting a heli-coil in to restore the threads instead of going oversize so you can keep the original size head bolt.
