Hello

I'm rebuilding a Marvel-Schebler carburetor for my 1956 640 Ford. Everything is going well except for the discovery of a missing Relief Valve on the Choke Plate and incorrect installation by the last owner. I have located all the correct parts but now have a problem getting the Choke Plate, shaft and retainer installed correctly. Can anyone tell me in detail the correct installation? I need guidance with the following:
1) Does the Relief Valve side of the Choke Plate install up or down?
2) Should the Choke Plate open in to the top or the bottom?
3) Does the Shaft install so that the Lever/linkage contection is up or down when it against the Stop on the side of the Body?
4) How does the retainer fit? I can't figure out how to make it offer any resistance against the Lever unless i was to bend it.

Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I rebuilt the carb but can't seem to get the choke plate and shaft installed correctly. Did you get it figured out or does anyone have some input.

Thanks
Pete
