My NAA will start and run fine, but once it is warmed up to operating temps it stalls out. Wait a minute or so and it will stall out again. I'm not a mechanic but suspect a carb problem. I just wonder why it will run for a few minutes fine and then stall. It just started this problem and was running fine up till now. I am going to buy a carb rebuild kit asap. My grass is getting tall. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Bill

Woops, I meant to say "Mike was right" since you suggested that I go back and recheck the screens etc. Not only am I not mechanic, but I guess I'm not much at this computer /typing stuff. Hopfully I'm improving at both. But I do appreciate all of your input.

I've tried to answer you guys acouple of times but for some reason my follow up doesn't appear. I will try again. Dave was right. I need to concentrate on the basic stuff before I worry about rebuilding carbs. To make along story short(I tried afew different things), I had checked the flow to the carb before I posted my problem and thought it to be good. I eventually went back to the sediment bowl which I thought was good since I had it apart a couple of weeks ago and it was still clean. What I found was the screen was a little ajar and had trapped a piece of debri between the screen and the inlet. That was my problem. It would get enough fuel to run but under load it would starve and stall. Thanks for all you input and advice. I really appreciate it. Bill

Polish Mike has it nailed pretty good... my NAA used to do the same thing... darn aggrevating... when it stalls, undo the fuel line at the carb and see what kind of flow you have... I once blew compressed air back through to the fuel tank and she kept running for quite a while... (it was the screen inside the tank getting clogged up)... after another tank patch leak on the old tank, I now have a new used one and have no problem...

Also, when it starts to die, pull the choke and see if she doesn't pick back up for a bit... if so, it probably is fuel and not electrical...

Good Luck

Don't be so quick to blame the carb. Your problem could be a fuel delivery problem (clogged filter screens, 3 of 'em), or an electrical problem such as your notoriously fragile ignition switch or a bad condenser.

Check to make sure you're getting enough flow to the carb. It should pour out of the supply line in a steady stream. Clean the filter screens in the tank, at the sediment bowl, and in the elbow going into the carb. If that all checks out fine, check the ignition switch by by-passing it next time it stalls out. These are just what I'd start with before I started rebuilding stuff. Find out WHY it's not working first !!

Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Where is the 3rd screen? I can only find 2, both at the sed bowl. Mine stalled the other day, but I was getting good flow to the carb when I disconnected the fuel line at the carb. It didn't stall yesterday, but I didn't have it under load, just idling.
