I have a 601 Workmaster that I am having a problem with. How is the clutch pedal held in place at the pivot point? Mine keeps wanting to slip out of the housing which puts it in a bind. I can push it back into the housing, but have not determined what keeps it in place. I am new to the tractor scene so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If your 601 is like mine ['58 641] the pedal pivot is a stud screwed into the side of the trans housing. I suppose yours has been loose for many years and wore the threads out of the hole. You could have a machine shop drill and tap the hole out to the next size and have a stud made up to fit.

I've only been in there once, so take my advice with some caution. I think the way it contacts the throwout bearing keeps it in place. Seems like there is a coil spring wrapped around the shaft that keeps it in contact with the throwout bearing. Perhaps your spring is broken. Now to see if it aggrivates you enough to split the tractor.
