2600 or 3000 which is best?

I looked at a Ford 2600 (D) with P/S today. A used tractor dealer has it. Selling price is $6700.00. It seems to be in moderately good condition. I have been looking for a Ford 3000 (D) with P/S but have not found one near my home. My question is how does the 2600 compare to the 3000? I had settled on a 3000 based on the information I have read and comments about them from other 3000 owners. The model # on the 2600 started with a B. I have read that a B model or serial# means the tractor was made for sale in Europe and parts for these units are hard to get. Any comments on this would be appreciated. Rick(Ga)

The B prefix indicates the tractor was built in Basildon, England. That does not necessarily mean the tractor was built for sale in Europe. Thousands of tractors were built there for distribution & sale in North America. The specific equipment found on the tractor will indicate the market it was built for. The differences between a 2600 and a 3000 are about 5HP and 18 cubic inches. Condition, configuration and price should dictate the choice of one model over the other rather than the model designation, in most cases.

I have a ~79 Ford 2600. I do major and minor landscaping with it. I have used it for brushhogging, rough grading with a landscaping rake and plowing. I have no complaints with the 2600. A real reliable tractor. I can not compare it to the 3000 though.
