I posted a few months back about an oil leak directly behind the oil pan where the engine and tranny mate up. I mistakingly replaced the oil pan gasket to no avail and some one pointed out that it sounded like a rear main seal. Apparently there is a way to replace this seal w/o having to split tractor. The search is down else I would have checked archives. I would greatly appreciate some detailed instructions as to how to replace the leaking seal. I'm using about a quart of oil every 2 hours. Thanks in advance. Brad

The link is to a 'cussion about the rear main seal. The archives search feature is as much hindrance as help. The archives are arranged, first numerically, then alphabetically, but currently with goofy stuff, also. Go to page 202 and read away. Best chance for getting the right parts the first trip is at New Holland.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like tons of fun!
BTW, will it be easy to determine the various bearing caps? I'm not terribly well versed in auto mechanics, but this tractor is getting me there rapidly :). Any other 'personal' hints are also greatly appreciated. thanks Brad

PS. I see where the President is going to be @ Normandy for the memorial.
