I have a 4000 HD industrial backhoe, diesel, around '64. I am trying to fix the power steering, it has not worked in years. I took it all apart, I put some new parts in it. I took what I guees is a relief valve, out to clean, I don't know how to describe it, but from what I can tell from a diagram I saw of it, it is a hollow tube sort of, with a steel ball - a spring - and another steel ball inside. It has two tiny holes on the side of tube. When I took mine out, it was one unit, I can see the steel ball inside, and on the side in the little holes I can see what looks like a spring. Should these parts come out ? If they do, I cannot get mine out, or I may be missing the spring and another steel ball. I am not sure if it is all one unit or if I am missing the spring and ball.Has anyone ever taken one of these apart ? Assuming that it is a relief valve, I guess I can do some damage if it is not working properly. Any intformation would be appreciated. Thanks Anthony
