I am planning on stretching my limits and rebuilding the engine of my 55 650. When I look at the engine kits, 3 questions come to mind: 1) How do I know what size bearings I need? 2) Can new sleeves be pressed in by a newb? 3) What else do I need to know before I leap?

Thanks,
Bill

1) you need to get the engine apart to see what shape the crank is in first to see if it has to be turned under size which will need over sized bearings.
2) It has been done before. Getting the old ones out may be the real challenge. You can do a search of this site for "sleeve install" and read how others have done it or get a machine shop to do it for you.
3) Get a copy of the Ford parts book and service manual. The parts book will have detailed pictures of all parts and their placement. The service manual will have detailed step by step directions. I feel it is a must for all newbees.
