Ford guys,

I figured this out at one time, but can"t remember: How do I tell what specific model an 801 series is? It has no power steering, non-live PTO, live hydraulics.

Also, does anybody have a pictue of the hood decals? Do the decals actually say "801" or "841" , etc? I"d like to clean our up our old girl and apply decals as a surprise for my Dad.

Thanks
Bill (from the Farmall board)

Hi Bill, It depends on what year your tractor is as to what decals it should have after mid year 1960 they all said 801 Powermaster whereas the ealier tractors would have said 841 if it has a 4 speed trans. Can you see any original decals under the repaint of the tractor ? Thanks Tony Jacobs

I see now ours is an 851 in reply to Tony Jacobs , 08-19-2004 18:49:06
I read the Ford resources page closer, and see the 5 speed tranny and non-live PTO mean it is an 851.
Thanks,
Bill

The model # should be hand stamped on the horizontal flat on the left side of the tractor xmission. Vintage Ford Tractor website has information. Tractor Parts Inc. web site sells decals.

No, can"t see any decals. The paint is blue/white; we have talked about repainting it to correct colors, but somebody did a nice job on the color change. It has the 5 speed transmission, the shifter moves vertically and then forward and back. Dad always says it is a "57 but I don"t think he has checked the serial number. You know how that goes.
I just want to get rid of the house numbers on the side of the hood.
Thanks,
Bill

The model number is stamped on a flat horizontal surface of the transmission case. Here's a link to show you where I mean.

I think ours is an 841...so the hood decals are listed for it. Perfect!
Thanks,
Bill
PS That Ford is starting to grow on me...
